Giving up is not an option - are you joining?

November 2, 2023

Maybe the slogan already looks familiar to you and you know what we’re talking about: Alpe D’HuZes! The 2024 edition is slowly appearing on the horizon. This unique and sporting event has a lot of impact. On the initiative of our Eager.one colleague Jauke van den Brink, we as MeeMaken group want to contribute to this impact. That is why MeeMaken is currently looking for a cycling team full of jocks who dare to tackle this climb! Will you join us?

In the first week of June 2024, 5000 participants will start a climb of 14.5 kilometers long. This is not just any climb. It is where participants literally and figuratively rise above themselves, where they cycle for themselves or their loved ones and raise massive amounts of money for KWF. As one of the 5,000 participants taking part, you will start at the foot of Mount Bourg d’Oisans on Thursday, June 6. You bike your way up through 21 curves and finish 1100 meters higher at the finish line on the Alpe d’Huez. Cycling participants climb this route a maximum of 6 times, raising sponsorship money. The money raised is donated in full to the KWF Cancer Foundation for cancer research and improving the quality of life of people with cancer.

Alpe d’HuZes was founded with the goal of turning the powerlessness that comes with cancer into strength. Under the motto “giving up is not an option,” the foundation reinforces a sense of decisiveness. You see that reflected. The event already has 16 editions and has raised a total of €208 million for the KWF! This is something we want to participate in. That’s why MeeMaken is sponsoring the participation and accommodation of 10 participants. On Tuesday, June 4, you will arrive at the accommodation. Thursday, June 6 is the day: you will start the climb with the rest of the MeeMaken cycling team. After an inspiring and tough day, you will leave for the Netherlands on Friday, June 7. It is of course important that you start Alpe d’HuZes completely fit! For this reason you will plan joint sport moments with the cycling team in preparation for the climb. More information about these moments will follow.
