Nordic Transport Group (NTG) has contracted Blue Offshore for the supply of two 23 meter OD Basket Carousels with an offshore capacity of 5,000 tonnes each.

Both basket Carousels (BC01 &BC02) were mobilized in the holds of the cargo vessel “Edward Oldendorff” in Rotterdam, NL, for a cable transport from Pikkala, Finland to Rhode Island, USA. The cable spooling took place in Pikkala, Finland.
The cables (Ø266mm) were 2 x 27.5 km long and weight 3,200 tonnes per length. In Rhode Island, USA, the two cables were transferred to a cable-laying vessel.

Blue Offshore’s scope of work also included key equipment including two tensioners, HPU’s and power supply (vessel power was insufficient), project management and the entire cable crew to operate the basket carousels and tensioners for cable loading and unloading.

The project has been carried out from November 2023 to April 2023.
